Police Investigate Murder in University City

(KTVI) – A drive-by shooting in University City has left a 17 year old girl dead and another young woman hurt. It happened Thursday night, but the investigation continues.

Police sources say investigators have recovered the car they believed was used in the killing. Investigators says it appears the victims did not know the shooters and that the murder could be random.  So far, no one is in custody.

It happened just before 8 p.m. Thursday outside a home on Plymouth. The victims, two women, were apparently sitting on a porch when a car with four black males inside started yelling at them.  Then shots rang out from the car.

A 17 year old girl was pronounced dead at the scene. A 23 year old woman was taken to the hospital with what police say are non-life threatening injuries.

A source says that a five year old child was also grazed by a bullet and was taken to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for treatment.  Police say the girls were at the 17  year old’s home.
